Bicentennial Celebration Planning Underway In Avon Lake

Residents are asked to fill out a survey describing what type of parties and celebrations should be held in the city's honor.

AVON LAKE, OH — Next year will be the 200-year-anniversary of Avon Lake's founding. In preparation for a family-friendly celebration, the city is asking residents to fill out a short survey weighing in on what type of birthday party should be held.

The survey — which should take less than 10 minutes to complete — includes several generic questions asking the resident to rate certain features of the city and check-off how they spend their free time. Residents are also asked to describe how often they dine in the city, what types of businesses should come into town, and how residents get their information on the city (like, say, Patch for instance).

At the end of the survey residents are asked to pick any number of possible celebrations to commemorate the 200-year-anniversary. The Bicentennial Commission is looking at holding a pancake breakfast with family activities, a BBQ cookout, a beer festival, church tours, home tours, food and wine tastings and parades. Residents can only fill-in their own suggestions for celebration ideas.

The survey can be found at this link.
