Blood Drive For Wounded Amherst Cop

On July 19, the Amherst Police Department will host a replacement blood drive for Officer J.R. Ptacek.

AMHERST, OH — Amherst Police Officer J.R. Ptacek was wounded during a standoff on May 31. He is still in serious condition and to support their fellow officer, the Amherst Police Department is hosting a replacement blood drive for Ptacek.

The blood drive will be held at Amherst Steele High School, on July 19. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., people as young as 16 can donate their blood in support of Ptacek.

People donating blood must weigh at least 110 pounds and must in good health. A valid government ID or LifeShare donor card must be brought to the blood drive. Appointments can be made online, but walk-ins are also welcome.
