College Football: Posey and Herron, Still Suspended
OSU is still without their best players on offense, can they survive this Saturday night in Nebraska?

Another week of college football, another OSU performance worth forgetting…
Wow, wasn’t that embarrassing? Another bad loss, the defense did everything it could to win the game. Unfortunately Braxton Miller played for three quarters and showed that he has a lot to work on. At least Bauserman kept OSU from being shut out for the first time since 1993. The offense is inept, it is broken. There is no best player, besides Brewster the Center, but he can only do so much to help an offense that has no identity and cannot consistently produce 100 yards total.
But this week we were supposed to turn things around. I was excited to play Nebraska, and I was going to predict a win. I was going to say that Herron would run for over 200 yards, and Posey would have two receiving touchdowns, at least. I was going to say all this, and then the NCAA smacked on an extended suspension because they were paid “too much” for their standards, while off. Fourteen dollars an hour may be high, but this is something that should have been taken up with the employer and not the fault of the employees. But what is done, is done. Let’s look at the matchups.
Ohio State v Nebraska
For Ohio State this was supposed to be the game that was going to turn everything around. Nebraska lost to Wisconsin, and got embarrassed in that game. OSU was going to pack-a-punch, but now the dialogue has changed. Now Ohio State is just trying to find out how they are going to keep themselves from getting embarrassed Saturday night. Well, all is not lost. The defense showed that they were up to the task against Michigan State, and forced turnovers. Now they go up against a two dimensional offense in Nebraska, but only one player is good. If Ohio State hopes to win they need to score more than 7 points, and force Martinez to make bad passes. Contain Martinez, and you will contain Nebraska. On the other hand, Nebraska needs to bounce back from a bad, but not shocking, loss to a tough Wisconsin team. Nebraska’s offense needs to bounce back, and if they can shake up the silver bullets, then Nebraska will win. Their defense doesn’t need to do much other than cover OSU’s wide receivers, which none are better than Nick Toon for Wisconsin.

Other games of the week
Florida takes on a hot LSU team. After an embarrassing loss to Alabama, will Florida bounce back and shock LSU? Or will LSU plow over a shaky Gator team?

Michigan goes to Northwestern to battle the best QB they have played so far this season. Surprisingly Michigan and Northwestern, surprisingly, have the 99th and 100th most productive passing offense, respectively. Denard Robinson hasn’t been the same, and is turning the ball over more often than he should. The saving grace has been their defense, which is much improved since Brady Hoke took over. A popular upset pick this week is Northwestern over Michigan, for obvious reasons. But I do not think Northwestern’s defense is up to the task to either contain or slow down Robinson, while NWs offense may be good, they can’t go toe to toe for 60 minutes.
Michigan 48 Northwestern 35
Auburn goes up against Arkansas. If this would be any other 4-1 team, I would be picking Arkansas in a heartbeat. But Auburn has a talent for pull it out of nowhere comeback victories. This game will be much closer than the experts have been predicting. If Auburn can stop Arkansas’ passing game, then they have a chance. As long as they can keep it within 2 touchdowns with 5 minutes left, anything is possible if you are a tiger.

Last, but not least, Oklahoma v Texas. A classic matchup between two teams that have a great history with each other. The red river rivalry is alive, and bursting with excitement. The nation’s 5th best passing offense in Oklahoma goes up against the 17th best passing defense in Texas. Although Colt’s brother Case is nowhere near as good, he has been able to limit mistakes this season. Texas’ offense needs to get rolling, and their defense needs to shake Landry Jones up a little bit. Oklahoma just needs to get comfortable in a loud Texas Memorial Stadium.
