Oh The Weather Outside....

Has the weather got you down? I bet your plants love it.

I know I'm not winning a popular vote when I say that I loved the rain we had in May. Have you seen it outside? It's great! Everything's green. And my plants are bigger and better than they've ever been. I had more lilacs blooming than I've had in 10 years. My peonies are sprouting everywhere and everything looks, well, just better.

So when everyone says they can't stand the rain, I smile and nod, but secretly love it. I love gardening, but I don't always like the work that comes along with it: The daily watering. I hate lugging my hose out 50 feet to water around the house to have it kink up every other stop. Then I have to wind it back up when I'm done. Ugh! So I'm a fan of rain. At least in some capacity.

I got a message the was being put on hold for now, due to weather. I haven't gone by to check on the progress, if any. Seeing that it's been dry for a week, I figured there should have been some building going on.

While I waited, I decided to have my Dad make me a garden box, got some dirt to put in it, and put in the only sunny location in my back yard. Got it filled yesterday and since I killed all the plants I bought from the Avon Lake marching band plant sale, I'll trudge out and buy some new one's and plant them today.....but it's raining.  And it's monsoon raining, not just a summer rain. So after I clean my flooded basement I'll buy some plants and put them in my new dirt. On the brighter side, at least I won't have to water them!
