Broken Windows And Found Drugs: Avon Lake Blotter

AVON LAKE, OH — Police were busy during the waning weeks of July. Officers had to track down a group of rock throwing kids, arrest a driver found with marijuana and an open container of alcohol in their car, and destroy drugs found in a local home.

Identity Theft, July 20 — Someone used an Avon Lake woman's identity to open a credit card account in another state.

Criminal Damaging, July 21 — A group of kids were spotted throwing rocks at a house on Norman Avenue, breaking a window. The kids were seen running into a nearby home. Police spoke with the mother of one of the children and she agreed to pay for the broken window, reports indicate.

Identity Theft, July 23 — The Post Office contacted an Avon Lake woman to confirm a change of address. Problem was...she never filed a change of address request. The woman filed an identity theft report with Avon Lake Police.

Drug Investigation, July 24 — Family members found suspected drugs in their home and wanted the narcotics destroyed, so they contacted Avon Lake police. Officers removed the drugs from the home and had them tested. The narcotics were then marked for destruction.

Fraud, July 25 — Someone stole an Avon Lake woman's credit and debit cards during the last weeks of July. The thief then used the cards to make several purchases, according to police records. The woman's bank cancelled the cards.

Traffic Complaint, July 27 — A patrolling officer stopped a car on Electric Boulevard. The driver had a suspended license, expired license plates, and had marijuana in their possession. The front seat passenger in the car had an open container of alcohol. The driver was arrested, the passenger cited, and the vehicle towed.
