Burglar Hits Avon Lake House, Steals Watch

A resident left his backdoor unlocked for 10-15 minutes and returned to his house to find his watch had been stolen.

AVON LAKE, OH — Police are looking for a possible burglar that hit an Avon Lake home while the owner was in the backyard. Traffic Complaint, Aug. 2 — Police stopped a dark green truck for traffic violations. The driver had an active warrant for his arrest from the Lorain County Sheriff's Office. He was taken into custody and driven to a Sheetz gas station in Sheffield Village, where deputies from the sheriff's office took custody of the man.

Drug Investigation, Aug. 3 — Walkers at Miller Road Park flagged down a passing officer on Aug. 3 and turned over drugs they found in the park. The drugs have been entered into evidence at Avon Lake Police Department.

Burglary, Aug. 4 — A resident on Belmar Boulevard reported being the victim of a burglary. He said he stepped outside of his house for 10 to 15 minutes, leaving the backdoor unlocked. When he came back inside the house, he found his watch was missing. The case is being investigated by the detectives bureau.

Possession of Drugs, Aug. 4 — A resident walking their dog near the Somerset Apartments saw a red SUV pull down the service path for the high tension power lines, just west of the apartment complex. The resident saw two men get out of the vehicle and walk away. Police located the vehicle and the men. Both men were cited for possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Theft, Aug. 6 — A bicycle was stolen out of a woman's unlocked vehicle.

Theft, Aug. 7 — A pistol and two loaded magazines were stolen out of a man's unlocked truck. Police were able to lift latent fingerprints off the vehicle.
