Burglars Break Into Avon Lake Home, Steal Jewelry

AVON LAKE, OH — Police are investigating a burglary in Avon Lake. On Saturday night, a homeowner discovered someone had ransacked their house and taken jewelry and other items, according to Avon Lake police records.

The burglary was discovered Saturday at 9:20 p.m. An alarm was tripped at a home on Tradewinds Drive and police were sent to investigate.

When officers arrived, there were signs of a break-in. The suspect got in through the house's back sliders, an Avon Lake police spokesperson told Patch.

Items appeared to have been taken from the home. Police called the homeowner, a 71-year-old woman who wasn't at the house, and asked her to come take a look.

The homeowner confirmed that earrings, a pendant, a turquoise charm and other items were stolen from the house. Police are still investigating the burglary, a spokesperson told Patch via email.
