Avon Democratic Club Hosts Candidates Brian Shaver, US House of Rep, & Judge Betty Sutton on Oct 8

Join the Avon Democratic Club (ADC) for our meeting on Thursday, October 8, at 6:30 p.m. at the Lorain Public Library System’s Avon Branch at 37485 Harvest Drive in Avon. All are welcome.
Featured speakers are Brian Shaver, candidate for the U.S. House of Representatives – District 5, and Judge Betty Sutton, Court of Appeals – 9th District.
Brian Shaver is dedicated to people-centric governance, focusing on practical solutions that transcend partisan politics for a better and more-united America.
A lifelong Northwest Ohioan, Shaver was born and raised in Fostoria, where he still lives on a small family farm with his wife, Elizabeth, and daughter, Genevieve. He is the current President of the Fostoria City Council, teaches social studies at Fostoria Junior/Senior High School and leads his local teachers’ union.
If elected to Congress, Shaver seeks to restore the meaning of “We the People” in our federal government by advocating for reforms, such as campaign finance limits, term limits, stronger checks and balances, transparency in legislation and clear guardrails to prevent elected officials from profiting from their positions.

There she learned to write law and to oversee the courts on the Judiciary Committees in both the Ohio House and Congress. Next, President Obama appointed Sutton to be Administrator of The Saint Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation, where she dealt with many complex legal issues in order to keep the Seaway open and American families working.
As Judge on the Ninth District Court of Appeals, Sutton has decided more than a thousand cases and been the author judge of more than three hundred opinions.
