Callers Help Bust Suspicious Man In Avon Lake

When police arrived, the man lied about his identity and then ran from officers. Plus, other incidents from the Avon Lake blotter.

AVON LAKE, OH —Callers reported a suspicious man hanging around Pin Oak Parkway at about 6:30 p.m. last Monday. Officers went to check on the situation, and the man ended up lying about his identity and then running from police.

The chase began after officers told the man he was being detained. Officers were able to track the man down and arrest him. He's being charged with obstructing official business and resisting arrest. Police also found drug instruments in the man's possession, and are charging him with possession of drug abuse instruments.

Assault, July 27 — An employee at Independence Village told police another employee assaulted her. Police took her statement, along with some others, and photographs for a report on the incident.

Juvenile Complaint, August 2 — A 12-year-old tried to steal a bicycle on Lake Road, when he was confronted by the bike's owner. The kid ran off once the adult saw him, but police found him shortly after the incident. The 12-year-old had runaway from his home in Lorain, he was turned over to his parents.

Animal Complaint, August 4 — A Beck Road resident reported that a neighbor's dog got loose and bit her canine. The resident's dog had to be taken to the veterinarian for treatment.

Fraud, August 6 — Lake Road was home to some controversy last week. A resident there believes a contractor she hired to work on her house used a false identity to get a job at her property. The contractor then reportedly overcharged the woman for work done to her home. The woman wants criminal charges filed against the man.
