Car Chase Goes Through Avon Lake, Into Sheffield Lake

AVON LAKE, OH — A 41-year-old man led police on a car chase out of Avon Lake and into Sheffield Lake, before he bailed out of his vehicle and ran off on foot. Unfortunately for the runner, officers had already identified him.

The chase happened a little before 1 a.m. on October 25. A caller told police that the 41-year-old was harassing him but when officers arrived, the suspect was driving away in a black Ford F-150.

An Avon Lake officer caught up to the truck on Moore Road and ran the suspect's license plates. The officer discovered the man had an active warrant with Lorain Police, and attempted to pull the F-150 over.

It didn't work.

The 41-year-old ignored sirens and flashing lights and drove into Sheffield Lake. He eventually ditched his truck and took off on foot. He escaped police that night.

The man's vehicle was towed from the scene, Avon Lake police told Patch.

The problem for the 41-year-old was this: officers identified him that night and issued a warrant for his arrest.

On Sunday, November 4, the warrant paid off. Sheffield Lake police saw the 41-year-old and stopped him. He was arrested and transferred into Avon Lake Police custody the same day.

The 41-year-old man faces a bevy of charges in Avon Lake, including failure to comply with police, obstructing official business, driving under suspension, open container, reckless operation, marked lanes, speeding, and use of turn signals.

The man made his first appearance in court this week, on Tuesday, an Avon Lake police officer confirmed to Patch.
