Car Stolen From Avon Lake Resident

The resident left their car keys in the cup holder of the vehicle.

AVON LAKE, OH — Police have entered a local man's car into the LEADS registration after it was stolen from in front of his house a little before New Year's Eve. Unfortunately, the man left his car keys in the cup holder of his car. Easy picking for a would-be car thief.

Traffic Complaint, Dec. 21 — Police on patrol did a random registration check on a car going east on Walker Road. The driver had a suspended license, so officers pulled him over and cited him.

Warrant Service, Dec. 21 — One of the staffers got sick at the BP Gas Station, 508 Belden Road, and a customer called to have her checked out. The clerk was healthy but she was also wanted in North Olmsted. She was arrested and handed over to police from that city.

Theft, Dec. 26 — A local woman sold one of her purses online, through E-Bay. The buyer wasn't happy and said they were returning it. However, when the return box came to the Avon Lake woman, she opened it and found the purse was not inside. E-Bay instructed the woman to get a police report and she would be reimbursed.

Death Investigation, Dec. 28 — A 70-year-old woman was found dead in her home. There were no signs of foul play, police said.

Traffic Complaint, Dec. 28 — Callers reported an erratic driver on Lake Road. Police caught up to the suspect vehicle. Paramedics were then called to the scene to treat the driver. The driver was released to a family member.

Death Investigation, Dec. 30 — A 66-year-old woman was found dead in her home on Lear Road. The woman was dead when police arrived.

Stolen Vehicle, Dec. 31 — A Brookfield Road man's car was stolen between Dec. 30 and Dec. 31. The resident had parked his car in the street because he had family and friends coming over. He forgot that his car was still parked outside his home and left it there. His car keys were in the cup holder.
