Catholic Schools Compete to Stamp Out Hunger
Ten Catholic Schools collected over 37,000 non-perishable food items to donate to hunger help centers in multiple counties this spring.

Ten Catholic Schools across northeast Ohio came together in a friendly competition to help feed the hungry in multiple counties this spring. Holy Trinity School, Avon, OH organized an East. vs. West Catholic School Food Drive to fill the local food banks. Corpus Christi Academy, Mater Dei Academy, Ss. Robert and William, St. Mary of the Assumption, and All Saints from the east competed against St. Mary Avon, St. Peter North Ridgeville, St. Joseph Avon Lake, St. Thomas Moore and Holy Trinity from the west to see which area could donate the highest average number of non-perishable items per student. While the West side won the contest, this competition truly benefitted those in need the most. 37,386 items were collected and distributed to help centers in multiple counties. Second Harvest Hunger Food Bank, only one of the many of the distribution centers, received 6655 pounds of food which is equivalent to 5546 meals.
