Chair Of Honor For POWs Installed At Avon Lake Stadium

The chair honors the memory and sacrifice of the 92,000 Americans who have been MIA or POWs since World War I.

AVON LAKE, OH — Over the weekend, Avon Lake became the latest school district to add a Chair of Honor at its high school football stadium. The chair is specially designed to honor POW and MIA soldiers.

On September 20, Avon Lake Schools held a dedication ceremony for the Chair of Honor. The seat was installed at Avon Lake Memorial Stadium, 175 Avon Belden Road. The dedication ceremony included a rifle salute, a motorcycle procession and a flag display.

The seat bears a plaque that reads, "You are not forgotten. Since World War I, more than 92,000 American soldiers are unaccounted for. This unoccupied seat is dedicated to the memory of these brave men and women and to the sacrifices each made in serving this country. God bless you. God bless America."
