Coronavirus In Avon Lake: Nursing Home Has 39 Cases
An Avon Lake resident died due to complications from the new coronavirus this week, Mayor Greg Zilka announced.
AVON LAKE, OH — There are at least 39 confirmed cases of the new coronavirus at the Main Street Care Center in Avon Lake, according to data from the Ohio Department of Health. Ten staff members and 29 patients have contracted the virus.
As of Wednesday afternoon, there were at least 55 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Avon Lake, according to Mayor Greg Zilka. The 55th confirmed case was announced on Wednesday.
On Monday, a 73-year-old man died due to complications from the virus, Zilka announced. The mayor last announced a death from COVID-19 on April 16, when three residents died due to complications from the virus.

Sprenger Health Care Systems, which operates the Main Street Care Center, said Wednesday the community was rallying around staff, using art to support health care workers at the facility.
