How's Your Avon Lake Water Tasting? Most Give It Two Thumbs Up

88% don't want additional services or improvements.

Like Avon Lake's water? If so, you're not alone.

Recently, (ALMU), which manages the water treatment plant, hired local market research company Business Research Services (BRS) to telephone interview a random sampling of 800 of its Avon Lake customers. ALMU was seeking feedback on the quality of service it is providing, what additional services ALMU could provide, and some initiatives it is considering.

A majority (90-95 percent) of the customers interviewed ranked the quality of water, customer services, and performance of ALMU service personnel as “Good” or “Excellent.”  An overwhelming majority (88 percent) did not request any additional services or improvements. A minority (4 percent) wanted ALMU to .

When asked which procedures they would prefer ALMU employ on future projects, even if it costs a little more, a majority of customers (79 percent) wanted ALMU to buy job materials and supplies locally, 65 percent wanted ALMU to implement better wastewater treatment methods for protecting the environment, and 60 percent wanted ALMU to use energy efficient equipment.

Seventy-nine percent of those interviewed rated ALMU communications as “Good” or “Excellent.”

“Overall, the survey will be very helpful in determining how to most appropriately serve our customers," Chief Utilities Executive Todd Danielson said. "Thanks to those who took the time to participate. The Board and staff will always strive to meet your needs.”
