David Markey Mange, 47

Father, husband and son was a soccer coach and referee.

David Markey Mange, 47, of Avon Lake formerly of Lansing, MI, passed away Saturday, April 7, 2012 after a two-year battle with cancer.

He was born on June 7, 1964 in Royal Oak, MI and had lived in Avon Lake the past seven years.

David earned a bachelors degree from the University of Michigan and worked as a campus minister for the past 25 years with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship.

He was a member of Bay Presbyterian Church and a past president and board member for the Bridge Avenue School.

David enjoyed sailing, windsurfing and bicycling and coached and refereed soccer. He also enjoyed music and played guitar.

David loved his God, his family, his friends and his work with InterVarsity Christian Fellowship. As a man of God who lived his faith daily, David did not waver in that faith during his difficult illness. His family is proud to have called him husband, father, son, brother and friend, and will miss him terribly.

He is survived by his wife of 22 years Debbie (nee Wetklow), whom he married June 17, 1989 and children Nathan and Analyn both at home; his parents Robert and Janet Mange of Avon Lake; sister Leigh Davenport (Pete) of Bellevue, OH; and nephew Daniel. He is preceded in death by nephew Matthew.

A memorial service will be Saturday, April 14, 2012 at Bay Presbyterian Church, 2541 Lake Rd., Bay Village at 1 p.m. Rev. Matthew Guertin of the church will officiate.
