Dog Attacks Woman At Weiss Field In Avon Lake
A dog off its leash jumped a woman, biting her arm and scratching her leg before running away.

AVON LAKE, OH — Unattended dogs raised a ruckus last week in Avon Lake. Police are searching for the owner of a dog that attacked a woman at Weiss Field and have cited the owner of dogs that allowed them to bark throughout the night.
While walking on the paths near Weiss Field, an Avon Lake woman was attacked by a loose dog. The animal ran out of the bushes and jumped on the woman. The woman tried to push the dog away, but the animal bit her on the arm and scratched her leg before fleeing. The woman did not see anyone else in the park and could not locate the dog owner.
Avon Lake Police have frequently asked residents to keep all dogs on leashes while walking through parks, specifically to avoid incidents like this. Officers are still searching for the dog's owner. That wasn't the only dog-unattended incident from recent weeks. On Aug. 13, neighbors contacted police to complain about a Brookfield Road resident's barking dogs. Officers showed up at the home to speak with the resident, but found no one home. The dogs were audibly barking while officers were at the house. This barking complaint was the third complaint lodged against the resident's dogs.
Officers were sent back to the Brookfield Road residence the next morning, located the dog owners, and cited him for failure to control his animals.
