Driver Flees Avon Lake Police, Crashes Into Mailbox
While attempting to speed away from officers, the driver lost control of his car and collided with a monument-style mailbox.
AVON LAKE, OH — A car fleeing police hit a mailbox before it could get away, Avon Lake police reports said.
While patrolling Walker Road at 11:20 a.m. on Feb. 15, an officer spotted a 2008 Maroon Toyota speeding. The car was clocked driving 55 mph in a 35 mph zone. The officer flicked on his lights and tried to pull the car over.
Instead of pulling to the side of the road, the Toyota accelerated and began speeding away, trying to outrun the police cruiser. The car sped down Walker and turned onto Britannia Road, then turned again onto Regency Court. That's when the driver lost control of his vehicle.
