Driver Hit Utility Pole In Avon Lake Before I-90 Accident
Police said a Jeep Wrangler was seen hitting a utility pole at an intersection before being involved in an accident on I-90.
AVON LAKE, OH — A Jeep Wrangler was seen hitting a utility pole before an accident on I-90, according to Avon Lake police records. The driver has been cited for failure to stop after an accident and reasonable control of a motor vehicle.
On August 3, at 11 a.m., a caller told police they saw a Jeep hit a utility pole at the intersection of Walker and Jaycox roads. The caller checked on the driver and found them unconscious behind the wheel. When the driver roused, they drove off. The caller was able to give police a partial license plate number.
Officers later found fresh damage to an aluminum utility box on a pole west of the Walker-Jaycox intersection. While they were investigating, police were told a Jeep had just been involved in an accident on I-90 West.

The Jeep on I-90, and the driver, matched the description given by the caller. The driver, a 45-year-old Avon Lake man, was then cited for leaving the scene of a car accident.
The driver has been arraigned and pleaded not guilty to his charges, according to Avon Lake Municipal Court records.
