Driver Hits Car, Flees Scene In Avon Lake
Sheffield Lake Police stopped the vehicle and the driver was later arrested.

AVON LAKE, OH — Police caught a driver who fled the scene of an accident last week. The driver hit a car near Buffalo Wild Wings and then took off, heading west. Juvenile Complaint, Sept. 7 — A caller reported that a juvenile girl went missing from her home on Sept. 7. The girl's mother said she had no idea where the girl was. After a few hours, the juvenile returned home and went to school. The school's guidance counselor spoke to the girl and the mother was satisfied.
Burglary, Sept. 9 — A resident on Duff Drive reported that she left her garage door open three weeks ago on accident. When she checked the garage in the morning, several items were missing.

Suspicious Activity, Sept. 12 — A student at Avon Lake High School was taken to the Cleveland Clinic after they reported having thoughts of harming themselves.
Warrant Service, Sept. 12 — While on patrol, an Avon Lake officer did a random plate registration check and found the car he was following was owned by a person with an active arrest warrant. The officer pulled over the vehicle and the driver was handed over to the Lorain County Sheriff's Office.

Found Property, Sept. 12 — A woman at Weiss Park told police she had lost her cell phone. The officer at the park told the woman to go to the station and file a missing property report. The woman never filed a report. The phone was later discovered by someone else at Weiss Park. The phone has been entered into evidence for safe keeping.
Found Property, Sept. 13 — Police were called to BP Gas Station for a person who found a wallet. After multiple attempts to contact the wallet's owner, the wallet was entered into evidence.
Traffic Complaint, Sept. 13 — Callers reported a hit-skip accident near Buffalo Wild Wings, 32914 Walker Rd. The suspect vehicle fled the scene going west. Sheffield Lake Police stopped a vehicle matching the description and a suspect was arrested. After an investigation, the suspect was also charged by Avon Lake Police for leaving the scene of an accident.
