Drug Dealer Sentenced To 20 Years For Overdose Death In Lorain

LORAIN, OH — Russell Davis is facing at least two decades in prison after he sold fentanyl to a 23-year-old man that overdosed and died on the narcotics. That death happened in 2016 and Davis was declared guilty this past week.
“Aggressively prosecuting people who profit from selling the drugs killing our friends and neighbors is a crucial component to overcoming the opioid epidemic,” U.S. Attorney Justin Herdman said. “The Lorain Police Department, FBI, the Lorain County Prosecutor's Office are all to be commended for their diligence in this case.”
Davis, from Lorain, will be sentenced on Aug. 29. A jury found him guilty on one count of distribution of fentanyl that resulted in death.

The 23-year-old that was killed by Davis' fentanyl was Jacob Castro-White, also from Lorain. Castro-White fatally overdosed on March 7, 2016, according to the Department of Justice.
The investigation into Davis was led by the FBI and the Lorain Police Department. The Lorain County Prosecutor's Office also assisted.
