Drunk Driver Does Donuts At Eastview School, Gets Himself Arrested

Police received calls that a car was driving erratically down Lear Road. Officers found a car peeling its tires in the parking lot.

AVON LAKE, OH - Don't run from the police. Especially don't run if you're drunk. A local man found that out the hard way when police caught him peeling his tires in the parking lot of a local school. Instead of surrendering, the man decided to run to his house. Read on for more information.

All Other Offense, Feb. 2 - Avon Lake police aided Bay Village officers during a traffic stop. The driver of a second vehicle who was picking up passengers from the traffic stop was driving with a suspended license.

Traffic Complaint, Feb. 3 - Police stopped a car on Lake Road, near Moore Road, when they saw the car had no illumination on its rear license plate. The driver also had a suspended license. The driver was cited for Driving Under Suspension and no rear license plate illumination.

Drug Overdose, Feb. 4 - Callers reported that there was a woman overdosing on prescription drugs in a home on Canterbury Road. Avon Lake paramedics transported the woman to St. Johns Hospital.

Disturbance, Feb. 5 - A juvenile cut his left foot on a shattered hot sauce bottle. Police say the juvenile got into an argument with his mother about the juvenile wanting to go out and the mother forbidding him. In anger, the juvenile smashed a hot sauce bottle, which cut his foot. He was taken to the Avon Cleveland Clinic.

OVI, Feb. 6 - Police saw a car peeling its tires in the parking lot of Eastview School, 230 Lear Rd. Callers had previously reported that there was a car that was recklessly speeding down Lear Road and the car in the parking lot matched that vehicle's description. When a patrol car approached the peeling vehicle, the driver turned into a driveway, jumped out of the car, and ran into a home. He was arrested for OVI, Fleeing, Willful or Wanton Disregard for Safety, Peeling Tires, and Open Container in a Vehicle.

DOA, Feb. 7 - A resident reported that his father had passed away overnight. Avon Lake Fire and Avon Lake Police responded to the scene and found a 78-year-old man, deceased, in a bedroom. The county coroner and the rest of the family were notified by Avon Lake Fire.

Theft, Feb. 6 - Cloud Chamber Vapor Lounge reported that one of its customers had stolen some merchandise and then fled. The suspect stole a sample bottle and was caught on camera doing so. The sample bottle was

almost full and valued at $34. Police spoke to the suspect and he admitted to accidentally leaving the store without paying for the item. He stated that he would reimburse the store for the cost of the item on Feb. 17. This matter will remain open.
