Drunken Woman Crashes Into Parked Car In Avon Lake: Police

Court records said the woman blew a .234 on a breath test.

AVON LAKE, OH — A 40-year-old woman crashed her pick-up truck into a parked car in Avon Lake on Jan. 2, according to Avon Lake police records. The woman now faces charges for drunken driving and texting while driving.

The crash happened at 9:40 p.m. on Ambleside Drive. A resident on the street called police after he saw the accident.

When officers arrived, the 40-year-old woman was walking away from the crash. After she began speaking with police, the woman said she had crashed into the parked car, police records show.

She was then taken into custody and charged with operating a vehicle while under the influence, texting while driving, failure to maintain control and excessive BAC. The car the woman hit appears to have suffered "substantial damage," according to an Avon Lake police officer.

"It appears all of the air bags inside the vehicle may have deployed," the officer told Patch.

Avon Lake Municipal Court records show the woman blew a .234 on a breath test. The legal limit for blood alcohol content in Ohio is .08.

The 40-year-old made her first appearance in Avon Lake Municipal Court on Tuesday. She was then arraigned on Wednesday and her pre-trial was set for Jan. 21.
