Elyria Man Sentenced For Stabbing Woman During Carjacking
Johnny Mack III was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison this week, the Department of Justice announced.
ELYRIA, OH — An Elyria man has been sentenced to a decade in federal prison for stabbing a woman during a carjacking, the Department of Justice announced.
Johnny Mack III, 40, previously pleaded guilty to carjacking. He was sentenced on Tuesday.
Mack forced a woman out of her Nissan Altima on December 12, 2018, court documents said. The woman was at a gas station when Mack pulled out a knife and threatened to stab the woman in her stomach as he pushed. He then stabbed her in her legs, hands and stomach, court documents said. He only managed to make small puncture wounds, according to the Department of Justice.

The carjacking was investigated by the FBI and Elyria Police Department. Mack was taken into custody two days after the incident.
Federal and local law enforcement worked together on the case through the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, which brings together different levels of law enforcement to reduce violent crime.
