Elyria Man Stabbed Woman During Carjacking: Indictment

Police said the woman suffered small wounds on her legs, stomach, and hands.

ELYRIA, OH — Charges have been brought against an Elyria man, accusing him of stabbing a woman during a carjacking.

Johnny G. Mack III, 39, was indicted on one count of carjacking, the Department of Justice announced. The indictment said he used force to steal a 2016 Nissan Altima on Dec. 12, 2018.

Mack is accused of pulling a knife on a woman, pushing her into the Altima, and stabbing her. The stabs caused small wounds on the woman's legs, stomach, and hands, court documents said.

The woman reportedly had a pocket knife and was able to fend off Mack, using the knife and shouting for attention. Police said Mack was arrested a few days after the incident.

The case was investigated by the FBI and the Elyria Police Department.
