Elyria Man Tricked 12-Year-Old Into Sending Nude Images: FBI

ELYRIA, OH — An Elyria man is accused of tricking a 12-year-old girl into sending him nude and explicit photographs, the FBI and Department of Justice announced.

An indictment against Christopher Goodin, 33, was brought in federal court this week. Goodin's alleged victim is a child in Utah. The Elyria resident is also accused of other child pornography crimes, the Department of Justice said.

The FBI led the investigation into Goodin. The bureau said he posed as a 12-year-old girl, under the screen name "Shorty853" on the chat app Kik. He then befriended the Utah girl and confided in her that "Shorty853" was being bullied by an older man, court documents said.

Goodin also posed as the abusive older man, under the screen name "Sambamo1." The Bureau said he told the actual 12-year-old, in Utah, that he would stop harassing "Shorty853" if she sent explicit photographs to him. The victim did just that, court documents said.

The Utah girl eventually told her mother what had happened. The girl's mother contacted law enforcement and the FBI eventually tracked the Kik accounts to Goodin, the bureau said.

The FBI said that numerous other images were pulled from Goodin's phone, possibly additional child pornography.

Goodin is currently being indicted on one count of sexual exploitation of a minor, one count of receipt of visual depictions of real minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct and one count of possessing child pornography.
