Every Child's Playground Opens April 14 In Avon

The city will hold its inaugural Story Time event at the park, rain or shine. There will be giveaways and other goodies for attendees.

AVON, OH — Rain or shine, on April 14, the city of Avon will roll out its inaugural Story Time and open the new Every Child Playground. During the event, books will be read to the kids by special guests. In the spirit of the park, there will be a sign language interpreter on-hand to assist with story time.

The event will also feature songs, Yoga, crafts, food and different giveaways from Avon businesses. The event is open to families from throughout the community.

The Story Time event starts at 10:15 a.m. with a ribbon cutting at the park. Story Time will start at 10:30 a.m. There will then be a Story Walk with Avon Mayor Bryan Jensen.

After the Story Walk, there will be History Walk Tours presented by the Avon Historical Society and the Landmark Preservation Committee. Those tours will be held at noon, 12:30 p.m. and 1 p.m.

There will also be Family Yoga at noon, a Music Enrichment program at 12:30 p.m. and there will be various musical performances throughout the day.

The Every Child's park will be accessible to all children, regardless of ability. The city said in a statement that it hopes the park will create a meaningful play opportunity for all children.

A special groundbreaking ceremony for the park was held on May 31, 2017.
