Firefighters Battle Blaze At Avon Lake House
The Avon Lake Fire Department put out a house fire on Avon Belden Road on Monday morning.

AVON LAKE, OH — A house fire shut down part of Avon Belden Road on Monday morning.
According to Avon Lake Fire Chief Jeremy Betsa, a fire at a home in the 300 block of Avon Belden started at about 4:30 a.m. An Avon Lake police officer spotted smoke coming from the house and alerted his team and the fire department.
The fire department sent nine firefighters to the scene and got additional help from firefighters in Avon, Sheffield Lake, Sheffield Village and Bay Village. The blaze continued for about 20 minutes after firefighters arrived, but was under control by about 4:50 a.m.

One person was inside the home when the fire started but they were pulled out by Avon Lake police prior to the arrival of firefighters. Betsa said the resident did not suffer any injuries and didn't want to be taken to a hospital.
One Avon Lake firefighter was taken to the emergency room after the fire, Betsa said. He has since been released from the hospital, in good condition. There were no other injuries from the fire.

Betsa said his department is still investigating what caused the fire.
Part of Avon Belden Road was shut down briefly after the fire.
