Free Coronavirus Testing To Be Held In Avon Lake
COVID-19 tests will be administered at two events in Avon Lake this week.
AVON LAKE, OH — Two free COVID-19 testing events will be held in Avon Lake this week.
Testing will be done Wednesday and Thursday at the Ellen Trivanovich Aquatic Center, 32850 Electric Blvd. The Ohio National Guard will help administer the tests.
Tests will be available to anyone ages 2 and older. Participants will need to wear a face covering when they drive-thru or walk up to get tested. Participants do not need to have symptoms of the virus, a doctor's order, an appointment, an ID card or medical insurance to get tested.

Here's the schedule for testing:
- Wednesday — 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Thursday — 2 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Medics will be administering PCR tests (not antigen tests).

Results will take approximately three days. Lorain County Public Health officials will follow up with anyone who tests positive and lives in the county. Anyone who lives outside of Lorain County but gets tested at the site will be contacted by their county health department.
"Testing for COVID-19 is critical to helping stop the spread of this virus. It saves lives. When we're able to test more individuals in a community it allows us to quickly identify infected individuals and isolate them. In that way, it helps us contain and decrease the spread of illness so we can go on the offense against this virus," Avon Lake officials said.
