Free Drug Testing Kits Available For Avon Parents

The kits are meant to help parents determine if their teenagers are using drugs.

AVON, OH — The city of Avon has launched its "Test My Teen" anti-drug program. Parents can receive a free, home drug testing kit through the initiative.

"With this tool, teens can resist the peer pressure urging them to experiment with illegal substances. "No thanks, my parents test me" is a great way for kids to avoid problems," the city said on its website.

The program is sponsored by the Avon Police Department and is being promoted on the Avon Local Schools website. Parents in the program will be taught what signs to look for in teens that indicate drug use, and how to communicate effectively with their children.

In many communities, local police are the first people to learn about a teenager's drug use...usually after busting the teen. The goal of the Test My Teen program is to put parents in-the-know.
