George E. Pullen, 93, Former Erie-Lackawanna Railway Clerk

Services are private

George E. Pullen, 93, of Avon Lake, a former Erie-Lackawanna (Conrail) railway clerk, who served with the Army engineers section in France during World War II, died Sept. 21.

In June 2011, Pullen was proclaimed an honorary member of Progress with Chess in recognition of his lifelong devotion to the game of chess.

He is survived by his children, Carol Klimas, Kathleen Plank, David, Laura Warrington and Patricia Coss; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. His wife, Arline (nee Judnick), died in December 2002.Services are private with arrangements by Busch Funeral Home.
