“We’ve had long distance problems since Monday,” Zuber said. “This has nothing to do with the new system, it had to do with CenturyTel.”
Zuber said the city was using WindStream as its long-distance service provider through AllTel. Windstream and AllTel merged several years ago and Windstream no longer services all of Ohio.
The glitch surprised city workers.
“It was unexpected,” Zuber said. “It had to do with PIC (Primary Interchange Connect) numbers. We’re working on it.”
By Friday morning, some city buildings had long-distance service restored. Zuber said the problem will continue to be worked on.
