The quickest way to get caught up on the most important things happening today in Avon-Avon Lake.

Hi there, Avon-Avon Lake. I'm here in your inbox per usual to tell you everything you need to know about what's going on in town. Here's the lowdown...

First, today's weather:

Breezy; a shower in the p.m.. High: 83 Low: 66.

Here are the top three stories today in Avon-Avon Lake:

  1. Here's a sampling of the newest batch of homes to hit the housing market in and near Avon-Avon Lake — including a house in the Avon Lake area with 3 beds and 2 baths for $289,900 and another in the Avon area with 4 beds and 3.5 baths for $1.5 million.(Avon-Avon Lake Patch)
  2. Come party in the park this summer and have some fun! The Avon Lake Parks and Recreation Department present the Summer Concert Series starting on June 12. Mark your calendars and gather up your friends and family to take part in this very special summer music extravaganza. (Avon Lake)
  3. Do your part to help keep the water clean in the community. This year, the Northeast Ohio Public Involvement, (NEO PIPE's) public outreach campaign is to educate the public of the value of native plants, specifically their roots, for clean water. Native plants' deep root structures help to filter pollutants, help rainwater infiltrate slowly, and prevent erosion by stabilizing clay soil, which Avon Lake has plenty of. When the soil is stabilized it doesn't erode into the water, therefore, keeping the waterways and lake clean. So, please think about planting native plants when you are designing your lawnscapes.
