He selflessly gave of himself both in his personal and professional life. He was a provider and a proud family man as well as an upstanding citizen in his community that he called home for 40 years.Β

As a young man, Herb learned the value of hard work and respect for family.Β He enjoyed hunting, camping, hosting get togethers, cooking, watching birds, and gardening.Β What Herb achieved in his professional life was more than matched by the passion and humanity with which he lived his personal life.

He is survived by fourΒ devotedΒ daughters: Elaina Hamel (Washington),Β Diane Tucker (Florida),Β Audra Klinger (Elyria), and Michelle Blake (Medina), his three adopted children: Kim Fleming (Millersburg), Cheri Fleming (Millersburg), and Herb Fleming Jr. (Sheffield Lake); hisΒ two step sons:Β Tom Sharpe (Avon Lake) and Brian Sharpe (Parma), his brother Bob Chabek and Judy Chabek, brother Bill Fleming (Missouri),Β andΒ his significant other, HelenΒ Garver Steele.

He wasΒ alsoΒ an adored grandfather of 24 grandchildren andΒ great-grandfatherΒ of five.

Herb is precededΒ in death by hisΒ former wife, Melinda Fleming, sisterΒ Susan Diley, and hisΒ foster parentsΒ Chuck and Edna Vinecourt.Β HeΒ demonstrated resilience and taught fortitude by example. To say that he will be missed barely touches on the loss or all he left behind. He was a kind hearted person who would give to anyone in need to a fault.

Memorial Visitation for close family and friends, at the Malloy Memorial & Crematory, 1575 West 117th, Cleveland, Saturday, April 13 fromΒ 1 p.m.Β  – 2 p.m.
