Homecoming Parade Entrants Needed In Avon Lake

Plus, details on the event-filled Homecoming Weekend at the end of the month.

AVON LAKE, OH — The Avon Lake Homecoming Parade is quickly approaching and participants are still needed. The parade will be held September 29 and will move through the city, starting at Blesser Park and ending at the high school.

The parade will start at 10:30 a.m., but paraders should gather at 9:30 a.m. Following the parade, the Avon Lake City Schools will open their buildings to visitors (from noon to 3 p.m.), then there will be a chili cook-off at the United Church of Christ from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m., and the Avon Lake Homecoming Dance will start at 8 p.m.

Groups that want to take part in the parade will need to submit their entry name, contact information, number of people in their group, number of vehicles in their group, and a brief description of their entry. Homecoming weekend will really start on Thursday, September 27 at the Avon Lake High School commons. The Rotary Pizza Cook-Off will run from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. There will be no bonfire at the event, the district said.

On Friday, September 28, the Avon Lake Shoremen will play Northe Ridgeville in the Homecoming football game. Kick-off is at 7 p.m.
