Homicide Suspect Kills Himself In Lorain

A man being sought in Cleveland was confronted by Lorain Police on Sunday. The suspect had unidentified human remains in his home.

LORAIN, OH — An investigation into a possible homicide saw the lead suspect kill himself on Sunday. Investigators found unidentified remains in the residence where the suspect was located.

The investigation began on Saturday when officers were sent to the address of 12820 Longmead Ave. for a wellness check. Police were told an active of violence may have occurred at that location and an all-point bulletin went out for the lead suspect, Hector Diaz.

Police originally said that there was no indication a crime took place at the Longmead location. Instead, a spokesperson said it appears the homicide may have occurred in Lorain County.

On Sunday, Cleveland Police were told that Lorain Police had found Diaz. He was at 4658 Oberlin Ave., in Lorain, and officers were attempting to communicate with him when Diaz killed himself.

Diaz was taken to Mercy Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased. Officers searched the residence where Diaz was located and found unidentified remains. Cleveland Homicide officers went to the location.

The Cuyahoga County Medical Examiner will investigate the remains found at the location.
