Hot Fun in the Summertime
Come enjoy the music of the 40', 60's, 70"s, and 80's at the Folger Home in June.
Heritage Avon Lake (“HAL”) is resuming its successful “Summer Nights” events at the historic Folger family summer home for 2017. Join HAL each Tuesday night 7:00 p.m. as we commemorate and celebrate our history. The public is invited to relax and enjoy Lake Erie’s splendor in the newly-installed rocking chairs that grace the Folger porch for these free events.
“Summer Nights” begins June 6, 2017 at 7:00 p.m., and continues each Tuesday evening through August. June will be the month for melody, with a focus on music that reflects events that shaped our past. The series opens with music from 1942, when patriotic fervor swept the nation and music echoed themes of yearning, pride, and hope for brighter days ahead. Remarkably, music that articulated the nation’s emotions in 1942 holds the same power to stir passions and memories today. The remaining Tuesdays in June will focus on music of 1964, 1971, and 1983.
Additional events will be offered on Tuesday evenings in July and August, including an opportunity to learn more about one of our nation’s favorite historic pastimes – birdwatching! On July 11, Heritage Avon Lake will feature Bob Ross from Landmark Lawn and Garden Supply as he helps bird lovers learn how to identify their feathered friends. August will bring another “Photographs and Memories” opportunity, so start gathering your historic Avon Lake photos now, and come prepared to share your memories. Watch the Avon-Avon Lake Patch for further details on these upcoming events.
