House Fire Sends One To Hospital In Avon Lake
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish a blaze at a home on Schooner Court this week. But one resident was still rushed to the ER.

AVON LAKE, OH — Avon Lake firefighters fought a blaze at a home on Schooner Court on Wednesday. While the fire was contained to one room of the house, one person did have to be taken to a local hospital for excessive smoke inhalation.
It's unclear what started the fire, but Assistant Fire Chief Jeremy Betsa told Patch that the blaze likely started on a mattress in the bedroom. "Upon our arrival, we had light smoke inside the residence," he said. "There was an obvious fire upstairs."
"It was a pretty quick event. It was confined to one room, a bedroom in the upstairs," Betsa said.
