How Did Avon, Avon Lake Do On School Report Cards?
Both schools saw marked improvement versus last year.

AVON, OH — The Avon Local Schools and Avon Lake Schools are two of the best districts in Lorain County, according to the somewhat controversial Ohio Department of Education state report cards. Avon Schools got an "A" overall grade, while Avon Lake Schools got a "B".
The report cards have been criticized for being an overly simplistic snapshot of a district, and for the metrics over-reliance on standardized testing. Last year, districts from across Northeast Ohio spoke out against the report cards.
This year, there has been far less uproar and vitriol. Performance on the report cards improved statewide. However, during a September League of Women Voters panel event, several education officials still critiqued the report card system, saying it did not provide an accurate representation of life inside a classroom.
