Here are the top three stories in Avon-Avon Lake today:

  1. Dozens of joyriders took over Cleveland intersections on both the east and west sides, performing stunts, driving recklessly, and frustrating innocent drivers Sunday night and into Monday morning. Cleveland police received calls from upset neighbors who reported 30-40 vehicles in a shopping center parking lot near West 110th Street and Lorain Avenue, about 20 minutes away from Avon, doing donuts and burnouts. A group of drivers also performed donuts and blocked traffic at the intersection of Detroit Avenue and West 25th Street. (News 5 Cleveland)
  2. Check out this list of things to do in Avon, Avon Lake, and North Ridgeville on Memorial Day weekend. There will be contests for kids, cool treats, plant sales, fishing derbies, and more planned in the area. A parade will be hosted in Avon Lake on May 30 at 10:00 a.m. (cleveland.com)
  3. The Twinsburg girls track team tied for the team championship in the 15-team field with Westlake at the annual Reynolds Invitational at Joe Firment Stadium in Avon on Saturday. Both teams scored 93 points to finish in the lead. Tiger girls head coach Sarah Kmet said, "Our sprinters were dominant, winning all three relays and scoring two (each) in the 100, 200, and 400-meters." (Akron Beacon Journal)
