Jumping Near Active Train Gets Man Cited In Avon Lake
Norfolk Southern employees told police they saw a man trespassing near the train tracks as a train went through the city.

AVON LAKE, OH — Railroad employees called police about a man trespassing near the train tracks on SR 83, as a train was passing by. The caller said the man appeared to be trying to jump beneath the train cars as they passed.
Police got to the scene at about 1:30 p.m. on June 23. They discovered that a Norfolk Southern employee had confronted the would-be train jumper. The two got into an argument and the employee watched as the man ran south into Avon.
Avon Police were told about what happened and their officers were able to locate the suspect on SR 83, near Detroit Road. Norfolk Southern's own police responded to the scene.

Avon Lake's officer went to the scene and met with both Avon and Norfolk Southern officers. The suspect was a 27-year-old from Wellington. Norfolk Southern employees wanted the man cited.
Police wrote him up for disorderly conduct and told him to stay away from railroad property.
