Lake Road To Be Closed Starting Feb. 5 In Avon Lake

For 60 days, part of the main drag will be shut down while Avon Lake Regional Water does some construction.

AVON LAKE, OH — Part of Lake Road will be closed down starting Feb. 5, the Avon Lake Regional Water Department announced. The street will be closed to traffic between Lear Road and South Point Drive for 60 days.

Local residents will be able to take U.S. 6 east to Lear to Electric Ave. to South Point Dr. and then get back on U.S. 6 and go backwards from there. Signs will be posted in the area noting the construction and detour routes.

Avon Lake Regional Water said the detours for passenger vehicles and commercial vehicles (aka trucks) will be different. Here's the planned detours for those vehicles:

  • Passenger Vehicles: US 6 eastbound to Lear Rd. south, to Walker Rd. west, to Bradley Rd. north to US 6 and reverse.
  • Trucks/Commercial Vehicles: US 6 eastbound to SR 83 south to SR 2 east, to Crocker Rd. north to US 6 and reverse.

Crews will be doing work on both sanitary and storm sewers during the shutdown.
