Latest COVID-19 Data For Avon, Avon Lake
Lorain County Public Health said both cities had 19 new cases of COVID-19 on Oct. 20.

AVON, OH — Avon and Avon Lake both had 19 new cases of COVID-19 on Oct. 20, according to Lorain County Public Health.
Lorain County is currently classified as "red" for its coronavirus spread, meaning there is "very high" spread locally. At least 244 Avon Lake residents and 202 Avon residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since the start of the pandemic, according to Lorain County Public Health.
Both municipal officials and state leaders have been urging Ohioans to wear masks and follow social distancing protocols if they leave their home. The Buckeye State has spent the past two weeks shattering its own records for most COVID-19 cases confirmed in a day.

Lorain County is also now classified as a "high-incidence" county, meaning the virus is spreading rapidly through the population. However, Lorain County is currently averaging 104.2 cases per 100,000 residents (one of the lowest marks among Ohio countites).
During the week of Oct. 27, there were 323 active COVID-19 cases in Lorain County, according to the Ohio Department of Health.

In Avon Lake, the median age for infected residents is 53. In Avon, the median age for infected residents is 41, according to Lorain County Public Health data.
Since the start of the pandemic, 17 Avon Lake residents have died because of COVID-19 complications. Seven Avon residents have died because of the virus.
