Local School Participates in Hour of Code

Holy Trinity School Continues Mission to Involve Students in Computer Science

Computers are everywhere but fewer schools teach computer science than 10 years ago. For the second year in a row, Holy Trinity School, Avon, OH, is joining the largest learning event in history, The Hour of Code, during Computer Science Week, December 5th through the 9th. More than one million students worldwide have already tried an Hour of Code. On Wednesday, December 7th, students in grades Kindergarten through Grade 8 will be using self-guided tutorials that work on browsers, tablets, smartphones, or no computer at all. The Hour of Code, organized by the nonprofit Code.org and over 100 others, is a statement that today’s generation of students is ready to learn critical skills for 21st century success. Software Developers from Hyland, Creator of OnBase, will be visiting the school, delivering a presentation to students and then assisting with The Hour of Code. The goal is to introduce girls and boys to fundamental computing concepts and inspire students to explore the field of computer science. Visit http://hourofcode.com/us for more information.
