Loose Dog Complaints Pile Up In Avon Lake

AVON LAKE, OH — There have been at least five incidents involving biting, barking and loose dogs in Avon Lake over the past three weeks, according to Avon Lake police records. No one suffered grievous injuries during the incidents.

Here are the most recent incidents, as found in Avon Lake police records.

A female dog was found by itself on Jaycox Road on July 30, according to police records. The animal was later returned to its owner, who was cited for dogs-at-large violations.

On August 4, a dog bit a person at Kopf Family Reservation on Electric Boulevard. Police records said officers were able to locate the dog's owners and speak with them about the incident.

Four days later, on August 8, at 9:30 p.m., police were called to a home on Beck Road for reports of a barking dog. Officers spotted the barking dog and discovered the animal had been left alone, outside, and no one was home at his house. Officers returned throughout the night to the house, but no one came home. The owner was later found and cited on August 9, police records said.

On August 9, callers reported a pair of dogs running loose on Lake Road. The animals were caught and then returned to their owner, who was cited for dogs-at-large violations.

A mail carrier said they were bitten by a dog on Moorewood Avenue on August 10, police records said. The mail carrier suffered only a minor injury, police noted.
