Loose Dogs Attack 2 Solicitors In Avon Lake

AVON LAKE, OH — Two door-to-door sale people were attacked by dogs over a two-day period. Police said they have reached out to the dogs' owners about the incidents. Read more about those attacks and other police matters from the early weeks of June.

Animal Complaint, June 8 — A solicitor reported that they had been bitten by a resident's dog on June 8. The solicitor said they were attacked while walking toward a house on Bayberry Court. The dog reportedly jumped off the porch it was resting on and bit the animal. The solicitor did not need medical attention. Police contacted the dog's owner to get its vaccination records.

Animal Complaint, June 7 — Another solicitor claimed to have been attacked while on the job in Avon Lake. They told police a canine attacked them while they were walking on Armour Road at about 6 p.m.

Car Towed, June 5 — Law enforcement towed an abandoned car from a York Street garage. The car had reportedly been left inside the garage for a year.

Found Property, June 4 — A resident turned in a .32 caliber pistol that they wanted destroyed.

All Other Offenses, June 4 — An Avon Lake resident found that some of their old license plates were being used by various semitrucks outside of Ohio. The resident has received several notices of for not paying tolls.

Theft, June 2 — Someone stole a girl's bicycle in early June. The bike had been wrapped in a trap and placed behind the resident's garage for the winter. Someone unwrapped the bicycle and stole it.

Theft, May 31 — A prescription bottle with four pills was taken from a resident's unlocked car.
