Lorain County Now 'Orange' For Coronavirus Spread
Lorain County's COVID-19 threat has been upgraded by the state.
AVON, OH— Lorain County's COVID-19 threat has been upgraded by the Ohio Department of Health.
After two weeks of being classified as "yellow," the lowest possible threat for COVID-19 transmission, Lorain was adjusted to "orange," on Thursday.
Orange, the second-lowest ranking in the color-coded system, means there is "increased" COVID-19 spread locally. Yellow, the lowest-ranking in the system, means simply that there is "active" spread locally.

In terms of COVID-19 case occurrence, Lorain County is ranks 81st out of Ohio's 88 counties, meaning there is a very low rate of transmission locally, the Ohio Department of Health said.
Lorain County averages 20.7 COVID-19 cases per 100,000 residents. There are currently 64 active COVID-19 cases in the county.

According to the state's newly launched COVID-19 in Schools dashboard, there are no schools in Lorain County with any active or reported coronavirus cases.
