Lorain County Receives Emergency COVID-19 Funding

ELYRIA, OH — Lorain County public safety agencies will receive more than $50,000 in funding to respond to COVID-19 challenges. The money comes from the Department of Justice.

“The Justice Department has acted swiftly to help our law enforcement partners throughout Northern Ohio address public safety issues during the COVID-19 pandemic,” said U.S. Attorney Justin Herdman. “This funding will help pay for costs associated with the pandemic such as overtime, medical personal protective equipment, hiring, training and other expenses.”

The funding is available through the Coronavirus Emergency Supplemental Funding program (CESF), which allows state, local and tribal governments to support a range of activities to prevent, prepare for or respond to COVID-19.

Governments throughout northern Ohio received $2.3 million in funding through the CESF program. Here's which cities and counties are getting funding:

• Youngstown - $139,227
• Trumbull County - $58,008
