Lorain County Remains 'Red' For COVID-19 Spread
A mask mandate will remain in place for Lorain County residents due to the rate of COVID-19 spread locally.

AVON, OH — Lorain County remains one of Ohio's "red" or Level 3 counties for its very high rate of COVID-19 spread.
A mask mandate will remain in effect in Lorain County due to its classification as a red county. Masks are required in all public places.
The latest report from the Ohio Department of Health shows a steady increase in new COVID-19 cases discovered in Lorain County. In late June, Lorain County averaged 29.7 cases of COVID-19 per 100,000 residents. That number jumped to 38.5 cases per 100,000 residents by July 14.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 1,226 COVID-19 cases confirmed in Lorain County. Over the past two weeks, health officials have discovered 230 cases locally. That means nearly 20 percent of Lorain County's COVID-19 cases have been confirmed in the past 14 days, the Ohio Department of Health said.
At least 60 percent of Lorain County's new COVID-19 cases are being discovered in non-congregate settings. Congregate settings include prisons and nursing homes.
