Lorain County Under Level 1 Snow Emergency
The Lorain County Sheriff's Office issued a Level 1 Snow Emergency alert on Tuesday morning.

LORAIN COUNTY, OH - The Lorain County Sheriff's Office issued a Level 1 Snow Emergency alert at about 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday. The sheriff is asking residents of the county to delay or avoid travelling because of icy roads and blowing snow.
The hard snow that began hammering Northeast Ohio on Monday night first hit Lorain County. Now, with winds of up to 40 mph, the National Weather Service (NWS) is advising counties that winter storm conditions could be impacting the region until Wednesday afternoon.
The NWS says the initial snowstorm is expected to taper off by early Tuesday afternoon. Lake effect snow will then reinvigorate the snowfall late Tuesday and continue snowfall through Wednesday morning. However, some areas of the snow belt will see steady snowfall throughout Tuesday, the NWS says.

The NWS says it expects 2-5 inches of snow to fall through Tuesday afternoon and another 4-7 between Tuesday night and Wednesday morning. However, the agency says that lake effect snow could lead to higher snowfall totals in some areas.
Avon and Avon Lake schools closed Tuesday due to the weather. The districts announced their closure on Monday night.
